If you play piano at the intermediate or advanced level, as an amateur or professional, the methodology described below can enhance your playing capabilities and your creative expression.

The piano is not only an interpretation instrument, but also a means for expressing your personal inventiveness and spontaneity. Creative musical expression may be obtained with the practical application of the three core elements of every piano composition:

Modern Tonal Harmony (MTH): includes revised version of chords that supports the melody.

Piano Arranging (AP): the procedures of structural resources that allows the musician the ability to convert a melody and chords into a piano composition, regardless of the genre.

Piano Improvisation (PI): the harmonies and associated scales that facilitate the free expression of the musician’s creativity.

The three elements of Modern Tonal Harmony, Piano Arranging, and Piano Improvisation are fully developed in my trilogy on music theory and practice. My approach to these three core elements represent what I refer to as: the creative piano.
